Kevin S. Douglas currently is Professor of Clinical-Forensic Psychology, Department of Psychology, Simon Fraser University, Canada. He is also a Researcher at the Helse Bergen-HF (Centre for Research and Education in Forensic Psychiatry), and Senior Research Advisor at the Centre for Research and Education in Forensic Psychiatry, Oslo University Hospital-HF. He was President of the American Psychology-Law Society (Division 41 of the American Psychological Association) in 2018-2019, and Treasurer of the International Association of Forensic Mental Health from 2013-2018.

Dr. Douglas received his law degree (LL.B.) in 2000 from the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, Canada, and his Ph.D. in Clinical-Forensic psychology from Simon Fraser University in 2002. He was the recipient of the Saleem Shah Award for Early Career Excellence in Psychology and Law (2005), awarded jointly by the American Psychology-Law Society and the American Academy of Forensic Psychology.

His research and professional activities include violence risk assessment and management; psychopathy; the association between mental and disorder and violence; and dynamic risk factors. Dr. Douglas is lead author on the latest (third) version of the HCR-20 violence risk assessment measure, published in 2013, which is the most commonly used violence risk assessment instrument, world-wide, used in 40+ countries, and translated into 25+ languages. Dr. Douglas has authored over 185 journal articles, books, or book chapters, and has given over 200 invited presentations or workshops across 20 countries.
