About the artist:

Sverre Bjertnæs (1976) was educated at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo, and further developed his studies at AKI Academy of Fine Art in Enschede in Holland. During recent years, he has been a rising star on Norway’s contemporary art scene, with a distinctive artistic identity.

He made his mark as an unusually skilled figurative painter and drawer, and also works with sculpture, installations and short movies in addition to painting. Bjertnæs’ paintings frequently display portraits, where a playful tone meets the image's complex relationships. These perspectives have in recent years formed a unique language.

The conference is organised on a non-profit basis by Stavanger University Hospital Mental Healthcare and the Mental Health information Foundation, in close collaboration with a range of statutory and non-satatutory organisations. The conference receives financial support from Stavanger City Council, Rogaland County Council, and the Inge Stensland Foundation.
