The goal of this presentation is to suggest that both psychotherapy practice and research could be improved by active collaborations between clinicians and researchers in various aspects of the design, implementation, and dissemination of psychotherapy studies.  As part of what is known as practice-oriented research or practice-based evidence, such collaborations can lead to a better understanding and recognition of the process and impact of psychotherapy as it is conducted in day-to-day routine across a variety of clinical settings.  Examples of  findings emerging from such collaborations, as well as strategies to foster clinicians and researchers partnerships, will be provided.
